Long Weekend Antwerp & London with T!

Friday, January 22: Antwerp, Belgium

Parked my bike at the trainstation

Train is five minutes late. In Gouda I have to change trains to Rotterdam...

View from the train; it's sunny in the Netherlands:)

On time! Waiting for train to Rotterdam...

When I get my lunch out, my finger gets stuck behind the 'Internet is for porn'-pin on my backpack. Blood even!

In Rotterdam I have twenty minutes to catch the International train to Belgium. I almost lost track of time in the bookstore but manage to run to the platform just in time. Pfew.

Antwerp trainstation. Such a gorgeous building.

I always have to take a picture of the entrance to the Zoo. Impressive:)

Kipdorpvest. Yeah.

Random street. I love the combination of buildings:)

Random statue. *g*

When I was done shopping (see result below), I picked up T. from work and together we traveled to her apartment, where she fed me spaghetti and we spent the night watching Doctor Who.

Saturday, January 23: Londen, England

We took the train from Antwerp to Brussel to catch the Eurostar to London!

See? London! Camden actually:)

A short stop from shopping to check in to hotel and drop our luggage and first batch of goodies: I bought a Lush bath-bar (for tonight's luxury soak in the tub), loads of lovely shampoos and a cool hoodie from Camden Market. SCORE!

We have dinner at Mother Mash. Delish Aberdeen Steak pie, mashed potatoes and gravy.

Got half price tickets for Hairspray with Phil Jupitus:) (This was right before we went through security and I discovered someone stole my Kipling purse from my backpack. Luckily I carried all my papers and money in my coat. Still peeved though. But I didn't let it ruin our night. HA.)

Great show, loved the songs! Phil was fun:)

The loot from the afternoon and evening shopping: Buffy and yaoi manga from Forbidden Planet, pink lemonade tea and box of Sinful Chocolate drinks from Whitland. Omnomnom.

Sunday, January 24: from England back to Belgium and the Netherlands

I had an awesome weekend already and we still have until 2 pm to spend in London:)

Packed to go home. We leave our luggage at the hotel and go into town again...

Trafalger Square: King George on his horse and Nelson on his Column.

Fountain with National Gallery in the background.

Sexy Fish Dude.

A man was training(?) his bird. (A falcon?)

One of the lions at the foot of Nelson's Column.

We met T's LJ-friend M. at the fountain and the three of us went to an exhibit in the National Gallery (The Hoerengracht by Kienholz)

We had lunch at Pret A Manger: mmmmm.

We did some shopping in Oxford street and the other ladies had coffee at Starbucks (imagine blissful looks on faces;) This is M & T walking to the Tube right before T & I go back to the hotel to get our bags.

I didn't have time to take pictures of T and me rushing to catch the Eurostar; St. Pancras station was a mess and we barely managed to get through customs and on board of the train. In Brussels trains were also delayed, but to our surprise we arrived in Antwerp just in time for my train to Rotterdam. We said a quick goodbye on the platform.

When I arrived in the Netherlands I noticed it had been snowing!

Home again!

Souvenirs from the National Gallery. I bought the Chocoholic shirt in Antwerp.

I also bought an Chocoholic hoodie and a beautifully drawn pirate comic "Black Wade" - The Wild Side Of Love. NOT SAFE FOR WORK! *g*

Yes, it was a very satisfying weekend. :-D

I love my hoodie too (and all the other chocolatey stuff:)

Kennedy, I hope you get that book soon; the story may be a bit cliche, but the art is gorgeous!
