Building a Computer in three easy steps

2. Invite brotherdearest to assist in buying parts
3. Bribe/bully said brother into handling technical stuff (promise him he can -for once- tell his big sister what to do;)

This afternoon I assembled my new Acrylic Case, it took me about one and a half hour (and I'm not admitting to fucking up twice;)...:



I left the left side panel unscrewed, so brotherdearest and I can put the computerparts in next Friday. To be continued...;)

Score! Amsterdam, Saturday (shopping and movies):

Three movies (first one on my own, second and third with Silvia), gorgeous book Ultimate CSI (American Book Center), cool hardcover Hitchhikers Guide (Waterhouse), Special edition Rocky Horror Show and a adorable little pig from Silvia (Thank you dahling;)

My long weekend breakfast:

Peach-yoghurtdrink (fyi the message on that cup continues on the bottom;) + Texan buns with creamcheese and filet american ('steak tartare) - raw beefpaste) - both with extra garlic. Oh baby. This is a picture of Saturday's brunch, but I will now make the exact same thing for today (Monday) to award myself for NOT staying up for the Oscars:)

Today my new I-mac arrived. It's HUGE! And I thought the old one was big. HA! Look: it's shivering from fear of its replacement and that one is not even installed properly yet... (click on the picture for a closer look)



Since we're working on the server at the same time it's gonna take some time to synchronize all the new computers. Next week we will continue with the project. I better start thinking about a new desktopdesign: even bigger Nick & Greg, wahey:)

In the good ole' student days (when I was pretending to study medicine) Oscar introduced this dish to me: 'Bietenstamp'. It is now (finally!) available in the supermarket as a ready-to-go-meal. (officially a vegetarian dish, but this one came with added meatbalthingy;) FYI: Originally we would put cheese in it to raise the gross-out factor:) It looks smashing and it tastes heavenly (I'm serious) I present to you: 'Stomped Beets':



Nothing like a little shoe-shopping to make me feel better, they are smaller than my usual pointy gentleman-shoes, that will take some getting used to;)



More shopping for comfort: pictureframes, funky towel, bracelets with skulls (because I'm so frickin' tough) and a bouncy pig for my pink toilet.



Today I unwrapped and checked the parts for building my new Acrylic ComputerCase, this is the before picture (hopefully I will be able to show the result soon...;)

My very own life-size George "I'm worth it" Eads 3D-shop-display!!!! The shop-assistent asked me what I was gonna do with it. Ehm... how about some dry-humpin'?

Why are those frickin' bottles so big: I want more George. Even if he looks like a robot-model-pod-person. Grumble. Still: eeeep! (Click for a close up;)

Saturday's shopping spree...
I was supposed to buy a computer-casing, keyboard and mouse to start setting up a new system, but I couldn't find the ones I wanted, so instead I bought stuff I didn't need.

It could've been worse: I almost bought an old telephone and an oldfashioned school desk at the second-hand store. But I didn't. So I say I did pretty good;)

Woohoo: new bedcover, it's flannel and snugly. Now I feel sleepy :-)

I spent the evening before my birthday with Hans up in the attic: we watched a couple of Buffy and Angel episodes to continue our everlasting Buffy-marathon. My mom came by after work around eleven and together we watched another episode. Around midnight mom handed me a big box with a birthday-breakfast and she and Hans both sang for me at the stroke of midnight:-) Then Hans went home with mom.

The next morning I opened my big birthday-breakfast:

... orange juice, chocolate milk, sugarbread, croissants and more goodies, mmm


The box was stuffed with food and...

A backpack with a skull, candy, vanilla-showergel, a promotional paper and cd of the movie 'Crusade In Jeans' (my favorite children's book) and best: a cool armband and an even cooler ring:




Breakfast (I can live for days on the food in the box!)

When mom and Hans came by around noon we had cake and then left for The Hague.
There we celebrated mine and Gayleen's birthday (12-22) with diner:

Happy holidays everyone!

I have had the lamp in my livingroom for about ten years and when I bought it I was thrilled to be able to change the design whenever I wanted. Ehm. ...Tonight was the first time I got on a chair and moved the arms in another angle:

Man, it totally changed the whole look of the room.

Sinterklaas-celebrations were once again brilliant. We had such a great time together, pictures don't really capture all the fun we had yesterday. (If only because the best moments were so overwhelmingly amusing that I just forgot to get my camera;) But here is an impression of our afternoon reading poems and unwrapping presents.
As usual I'll start with showing off some of the suprise-packages I Sint made: SintSurprises!

A telephone/computer gadget for mom, because of all of her trouble with the phone and internet-connections. It was the first present to be opened: behind the massive amount of presents you can see mom starting the party by reading the poem:

This year brother Jaap bought an apartment with girlfriend Gayleen. They had to put in a new kitchen and dad put in a new toilet. To remind Jaap of how much work he didn't do I hid his present (luxurious black toiletpaper, imported from Portugal) in a tiny toilet, so now he had to get his hands dirty:-p

Because of nightshifts in the hospital Gayleen almost wasn't able to join the celebrations, so I made her an assistent who can cover for her at work next time she needs a day off. I hid a jar of fairtrade footlotion in her left buttock. However: Gayleen was more impressed by the robotnurse's boobies:

Babybrother Hans got his heart broken big time. Inside I hid two comforting pillowcases. Okay, maybe more distracting than comforting: each had a picture of a lovely girl on it. *g* This is Hans reading the poem and bravely smiling all the way through. Goober;)



Mom also made some lovely surprisegifts:


Jaap got a fancy bottly of wine... or did he...



Hans got a 'wuppie' because he missed the rage last summer (when this eighties-phenomenon had a revival because of the WorldCup Football) Notice the pink glasses that cuddly thing is wearing? That was the gift: here is Hans showing it off: so very cool (remind you of someone? *giggle*



Gayleen got an extra suprise gift I found in Amsterdam: a bandana wrapped like a lollypop:




To her and our surprise Gayleen accidently brought back an old tradition: she hid a present inside a piece of food! It was a beautiful creation: she had made an old face out of chocolate and put mom's gift inside: a pair of earrings. It was messy and mom needed some help getting to the present, but she is clearly enjoying herself ;o) Mmm chocolate:



And just because I love this picture: grinning Jaap and that anticipating look on Gayleen's face: that's what Sinterklaas is all about:)



My fifth creation was saved for last:

The final present of the evening: mom had to repair and remake a lot of clothes this year, so she got a huge needle and thread, because no doubt people will ask for her help again. A leather belt with a fancy buckle was hidden inside.

I love Sinterklaas!
