After much antici....pation, I managed to dl recorded the first episode of CSI Season 6. Watched it together with a big box of chocolate-truffels. Sigh. Will hopefully be able to write a coherent review soon. Since I don't wanna spoil the poor sods that have to wait for some tv-network to show it, I will put my opinion behind a cut in my life journal.
For now I'm gonna catch up on fanfiction:-)

Yesterday evening I came home late and exhausted, after some sort of training at work (how to be nice to customers, very useful;) and missing the bus and spending an hour on a chilly busstation waiting for the next one. My mood didn't improve when I found a bike parked in the hallway , blocking the entrance to the storage area (where people are supposed to park their bikes). This time the smart owner (...) connected the bike to the bannister, so I couldn't move it out of the way.
So instead I used my lock on the frontwheel, after I finally managed to reach my shack.
(In my defence: this wasn't the first time I had trouble getting through the door and it's not like I didn't try to explain a hundred times before why it's a stupid place to park a bike.)

This morning I pinned a note to the saddle explaining my action and signed with my name and adress.

When I got home this evening the bike was gone and upstairs, on my doormat I found my lock and a note saying:
'Here's your lock back
if you use it again,
I will be in your 'gakup'

(Couldn't really read the last word)

The message was signed with 'Whiner'. (What a strange way to describe yourself *g*)
(the online dictionairy tells me the right word is 'attitudinizer', but that sounds a bit posh;)

But now I'm wondering: where can I find my 'gakup' and where does whiner live?

(etiquette is a bitch)

I'm feeling a little down ('cause I had to cross Damon off of my potentials-list since he started smoking (again?):-( Hmmm, maybe this will help...

When Mom and I got home from The Machinist last night, we definatly needed something to make us feel better (good movie, very depressing). Luckily I turned on the tv just in time for our favourite Gilmore Girls moment. Garanteed to give us sweet dreams;-)

Got some protection against spamming: you now have to copy a code before you can make a comment, but don't let that stop you!
Had planned to go to bed early tonight, but stayed up way past midnight to finish my new avatars!

Thanks to the Nerd-Geek or Dork Test I found out: I'm a Cool Nerd!

'Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!'

Just so you know:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.

My scores
56% on nerdiness
60% on geekosity
30% on dork points

After watching the BtVS-Season 2 final together with Hans this morning, I continued the rewatch with Season 3 on my own at night. Episode Anne was not as tame or lame as I remember, it was filled with very funny dialogue, especially between all the couples. Here's my favorite conversation: Oz tells Willow he didn't go to summerschool and that he will be a senior for one more year...

Willow: But you never said anything. How am I supposed to react to this rather alarming news?
Oz: Well, actually, I was pretty much banking on you finding it cute.
Willow: Well, traditionally, you know, repeating a grade isn't exactly a turn-on. And you're practically a genius. You're Mr. Test Scores. It's all a little weird.
Oz: So the cute thing is out?
Willow: I'm trying to get to cute, really. But I'm still sorta stuck on 'strange'.
Oz: Well, I'd be willing to bargain down to 'eccentric' with an option on 'cool'.

(yes I know I moved, but I'm too tired from work to take another picture)

The entrance to the livingroom (and another Klang;)

Rerun of FightNight CSI (S3Ep7) on tv. Missed Warricks-boxinggloves-test, but did enjoy seeing Greg deliver the 'Because you make me nervous' speech to Grissom (heh)
Okay, so I was bored and spent the night in front of the tv, at least I have an excuse to post this picture;-)

Started the rewatch of CSI S5 on the big screen.
Loved how Sobell (Television without Pity) described this part:
Enter Prisoner 24609. Behold the impersonal navy jumpsuit, the punitive crew cut, the enraged voice as he shouts, "Man, if I ever have to search another torched car --!" Liam turns around and, hey! That's Nicky. Taking his style cues from that Ridley Scott commercial introducing the Mac, I see. [...]
Anyway, Liam introduces his lady love as Chandra Moore. Nicky extends a greasy, sooty hand in introduction as he exposits, "Oh, yeah! The DNA girl." Chandra recoils, [...] acting like [she's] too clean to shake Nicky's hand. Nicky settles for a friendly knuckle-bump. Chandra rattles off her bona fides: "B.S. in biochem, M.S. in molecular biology, five years of service in DNA at the C.C.L." Nicky and Liam act impressed, because their mommas raised them to be polite. Then Nicky takes his leave by announcing that he's going to use the "no-pressure, no-A/C, stinks-of-feet shower. So, welcome." Nicky, if you want her to join you, you're going to have to work on making the offer sound a little more enticing.

heh. More scenes full of not-very-subtext in Ep2 btw;-)
fyi: Liam = Greg, aka the labtech

Mental preparation for the last week of vacation, sigh.
Hung around and did some thinking (ouch) Thought about that whole bi-thing and made an interesting discovery, ehm... never mind;) (not ready to share that: tmi)

(Window) shopping in Amsterdam with Gayleen: touched a 1500+ euro coat at Dolce & Gabbana. We both scored some good stuff at Lush (Sonic Death Monkey) and bought books at Waterstone's (Until I Find You by John Irving and short stories by Dave Eggers). Ended the day at the movies: missed the beginning of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and watched The Island. (reviews will follow in the movielog;)
Said goodbye at the trainstation, where I found my platform closed off. Staff didn't give any information to the waiting crowd, but there were rumours of a -whispering- b-o-m-b-t-h-r-e-a-t.
Dear railway-employees: when people don't know what they're waiting for, they get pissed off. Next time just tell us what the hell is going on. Besides: Bombthreat-Schmombthreat, I'm pms-ing and a lot more dangerous than any would-be-terrorist. If I miss my train, you're in big trouble. I'm not kidding.
Lucky for them, passengers were allowed on the platform just in time and I also managed to catch the connecting train home.
To whomever 'caused the situation: don't try this again.

Exciting day:-)

Moved the icons to the special Icon Corner: see link!

Finished painting! Here are the final results of livingroom and shower...
(click for larger picture;)

Diner with Gayleen and Jaap in The Hague (G is a great cook: I didn't know you could make pizza's from scratch;)
Night at the beach for the fireworksfestival in Scheveningen. Second day of competition: Croatia and Italy. I liked the rhythm of the first, but the second display was more spectacular.
It was fun (also enjoyed the comments of the people on the beach: 'it was a fucking shooting star' heh:)

11 am-ish: Getting ready to paint the wall in the 'bathroom' (there is no bath). How in the #*&%#& do I remove that shower-tube? Aaargh, I'm gonna get something to eat first, grumble.

15.30 (three thirthy;) Finally found a way to get the shower off the wall:-) Been painting most of the afternoon, result so far:

Last picture with superflash I guess, on the whole wall the color is the same pale-blue;-)

Also started on the windowpane in the livingroom, but had to take a break from having my arms up in the air. Will continue after posting...

Still painting my livingroom-wall... Got shocked once yesterday and once today because one of the sockets turned out to be connected to another fuse (I think it's called a circuitbreaker now) than the one I decided to switch off after the first shock... Put a second layer of paint on half the wall today.
Hopefully I'll be able to finish the rest before I go on my tiny-trip down south tomorrow... (only one socket to avoid on the part of the wall that's left;0)
