MMmm, bonbons from Antwerp:

And this is just the top layer of THREE!
I brought them for mom, but she was kind enough to share them during our film-evening up in the attic;)

The Hague, Thursday May 12
After an epic tour following Panic! at the Disco in Amsterdam and Antwerp, I traveled back home with a short stop in The Hague to visit brother Jaap, SIL Gayleen and nephew Ruben. Guess who I took most pictures of;)

Looking at his dad:)

Look at those eyelashes!

On dad's lap.

Cycled to my mom this morning for a surprise visit to honour Mother's day. I picked flowers on the way:

I had already delivered flowers and a breakfast basket on Thursday, because I thought I wouldn't be able to make it today, but I didn't want to show up empty handed;) I also brought a special loaf of bread in the shape of a heart, ahw.

This was the official bouquet I secretely left on her table on Thursday (she found it when she came home at night:)

And this is how the hand picked flowers ended up. Tadaah!

Dinner, Saturday April 23

Omelet (made with eggs from the bossman's chickens) with chipolata (included on the bottom) and carrots. Quite proud of the result. Looked pretty good and tasted great:)

Delicious traditions...

The bossman gave each of us a bread basket for Easter:

And when I got home I found mom had left me Chocolate bunnies and chickens plus a piece of lemon-nougat, omnomnom.

Look what I bought!
Went shopping for a shirt and found out the shop was selling its mannequins. Unfortunately not whole bodies, but I just had to get myself a male torso:) I have to transport it home in bits, because it's too big to take on the bus and bike in one go. (I also had to carry a bowl of fresh eggs from the bossman's chickens for Easter).

I was relieved it fit in my bikebag:)

Now he sits on the couch waiting for his arms *g*

Roadworks are forcing me to cycle an alternative route to my bus. My 'own' busstop is closed and I now have to catch my bus one stop further. Since the roadworks also delay the bus coming from the station, for now I'm not leaving the house any earlier. One busdriver said this situation will likely be in effect until June 2012 (two thousand TWELVE). Jeebus.

It may seem like there is a more direct path next to the highway, but as far as I can tell that's for pedestrians. So I'm cycling in a curve back to my neighbourhood. It's a nice bit of nature actually.

Name of my alternative busstop translates to 'Happiness'. Yeah. Not so much.

I made dinner for me and mom tonight (before we went to the Arthouse to -finally- see Black Swan)

Chicken, potatoes in skin with oniondressing and miniature beets.

Dinner Saturday, March 26: Hot Dog Pizza!

Okay, I agree it sounds horrible, especially the pickles and mustard, but it tastes mm-mm-good. :-)

Dag Bammetje...

Two succesful shoppingtrips today!

1. This afternoon I found a replacement button for the dimmer of my livingroom chandelier (I broke that lightswitch weeks ago).

Although I could still use it and it looked kind of funky and spacey without the button, I'm very pleased I was able to make it whole again:)

2. Bookweek started yesterday and since shops are open on Thursdaynight I went bookshopping:

There were many more books I fancied, but I figured I'd save some shopping for after my paycheck arrives next week (bookweek lasts 10 days;). When you spent at least 12,50 euros on books, you get an especially written book for free (De Kraai - Kader Abdolah). As an extra bonus you can use this book as a trainticket on Sunday to travel for FREE all over the Netherlands.
Amsterdam, here I come!

Since my broken arm won't allow me to cycle I walked to the supermarket yesterday. There was a stormy wind and I made some photos and videos:

On Thursday, January 20 I fell off my bike (See Livejournal / Zie Blog)

Here are some photos of my booboos, which at first sight didn't seem that bad, but gradually got bigger and more painful. :(

Taken right after the accident: a scrape on my elbow (although neither the sleeve of my jacket nor my sweater or shirt were damaged) It doesn't look so bad, right? And here I can still move my arm, even though it hurts like hell. But I figured I could go back to work the next day.

But on Friday my whole body hurt and bruises appeared on my innerthigh where the handlebar landed. I couldn't move my wrist or elbow and after consulting my doctor I was sent to the hospital for x-rays of my arm and hand. They turned out to be not broken and I was told to rest my arm and use ice when needed.

Sadly on Monday I still couldn't use my left arm and my leg also still hurt. Pretty colours though.

This was my arm this morning (Tuesday). Still very painful, but I can move it a bit more (still can't bend it or twist my wrist). I took painkillers all day and hope to go to work tomorrow for some much needed distraction.

Amsterdam, Saturday January 22, 2011

Thanks to mom and her bf, who brought me there (by car and train) and brotherdearest who accompanied me, I had an awesome day in Amsterdam yesterday. If they hadn't helped me get out of the house, my day would have no doubt been spent weeping on the couch, because of my poor useless and painful arm.
And then you wouldn't have had these happy photos;)

Walking from Amsterdam train station to The Beurs van Berlage. Corner of the building. (Statue of Jan Pieterszoon Coen says: "Do not despair" in old Dutch)

This used to be the entrance, but the sign says to keep going...

Tadaah: The Beurs van Berlage!

Mom, her tall BF and me:)

Mom and her youngest son:)

Brotherdearest and I waved mom and her BF goodbye: they were going to the Rijksmuseum, while we were going to the exhibition about the history of Dutch advertising in the Beurs van Berlage

There were even art-pieces on the ceiling.

I love these huge lamps: guess the (Dutch) celebs!

We walked outside, three hours later(!) and the sun was shining!
(FYI: that is my LITTLE brother. Tiny ten years younger brother. *huffs*)

We walked by the Palace on Damsquare, which has a funky entrance during restaurations.

We did some shopping in funky shops (didn't buy these freaky eyes though;)

and walked around Amsterdam for a bit:)

Snowmen across the street were part of a artschoolproject.

We sat down for food and drinks at Brecht, a small cafe that looks like an old lady's livingroom. I had Citron Presse: freshly squeezed lemon juice & sparkling water (I didn't add sugar:)

Don't mind my baglady outfit: I had to dress myself with one hand this morning. Yes, figuring out how to eat this, was a challenge. Brotherdearest threatened to film it, but luckily he was too busy enjoying his own meal:-p

Delicious: warm Piadina (Italian flatbread) with soft cheese, walnuts and honey. Thanks to my failing left arm, I had to take my time eating and could really savor all the flavors:)

From Brecht we took a tram straight to the trainstation, where brotherdearest made sure I got on the train with my bags (that he had been carrying for me all day)

I got home around 19.00 with a load of goodies: a lot of chocolate, a book from the exhibition, a tin of KamaSutra Honeysuckle bodypowder, Book 4 & 5 out of the Nightrunner series and two rare candlelightbulbs for my chandelier (these old fashioned wire lamps are no longer made)

It was a very good day:)
